::: ROBERT HENKE BIO :::
Robert Henke a.k.a. Monolake, born 1969, is a composer, sound designer, software developer, installation artist and performer. His music has roots in academic sound research as well as in club culture, and the result is a body of work that is sophisticated yet accessible. Henke’s musical and performative work is about space and its exploration in different time scales, it is about the impact of massive gestures and precisely shaped details in the background. Many of his works can be perceived as potentially endless sonic states inviting the audience to immerse themselves completely for a freely defined amount of time.
Robert Henke releases music under his own name and as Monolake; his performances and interactive installations have been shown at places like the Tate Modern in London, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, MUDAM in Luxembourg, and the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney. In 2007 his work Layering Buddha received an honorary mention at the Prix Ars Electronica. Robert Henke is one of the authors of the Ableton Live music software, and teaches as professor for sound design at the University of Arts in Berlin.
::: RANDY JONES BIO :::
Randy Jones is a composer, improviser and software designer who combines sounds and images in live performance. His shows combine a scientific outlook with a cosmic cinematic language. He has performed at festivals including Technicolor (Berlin), Música Electroacústica (Havana), Spark (Minneapolis), MUTEK (Montreal), Decibel (Seattle) and New Forms (Vancouver), and been a repeated guest at the Northwest Film Forum’s Visual Music Festival and Cinema by Design series in his home city of Seattle.
Other projects have included motion visual design for a permanent installation at the Seattle Public Library, tour visuals for Radiohead, and an installation for Seattle’s aro.space. From 2000-2004 he worked with Cycling ’74 to create Jitter, a graphics and matrix-processing addition to Max/MSP. Jones has also had a long-time interest in electronic dance music; his main outlet for this work is the Orac Records label which he co-founded with Konstantin Gabbro. His debut album, “The Return of Caro,” was released on the label in the Spring of 2005.
::: MICHAEL MANAHAN BIO :::
Michael is an essential and vital element of the Left Coast electronic music community; he nourishes the underground not only with his deep and phat-funky tribal oriented tech house sets but also with his immense contributions to the exploration of consciousness and spiritual evolution through art and music. This DJ, performer, producer, and space cowboy is also the co-founder of the Oracle Gatherings, the co-producer of the Decibel Festival, as well as the co-producer of the electronic music stage at Hempfest, the world’s largest reform protest. Also the owner of Starborne Productions, Manahan is an innovator and a leader of the Seattle dance community and tribal culture; a mainstay in the scene whose presence always ups the love whether he is spinning dubby house, hard techno, glitch-ridden breaks, spacey downtempo, or just hanging out being himself.
